Hillstone Phoenix Review: An Exceptional Date Night Experience in Arizona
If you haven’t experienced Hillstone in Phoenix yet, it’s definitely a place to add to your must-visit list. This is the kind of spot we save for special occasions – a few times a year when we’re craving a little upscale charm and delicious food. Hillstone isn’t your typical chain restaurant – it’s one of the rare chains I actually love, as it always offers something beyond the usual cookie-cutter dining experience.
As soon as you walk in, you’re greeted with a chic, low-light ambiance perfect for date nights or celebrations. The vibe? Upscale, yet laid-back. The lounge area is spacious with a stylish, fully enclosed bar, where you can indulge in their full menu. If the weather’s nice, the large patio area extends that same elegant feel outdoors. The sushi bar and open cooking stations add an interactive element to your meal, with everything being made to order right before your eyes.
The Thai Noodle Salad: A Classic Favourite
Let’s talk food! On my first visit to Hillstone, I fell in love with their Thai Noodle Salad, and it’s been a favorite ever since. The fresh mangoes, crisp veggies, and perfectly cooked noodles make for a light yet satisfying dish. While it used to come with steak, the current menu offers the option of pulled pork or roast chicken, which I’m sure would be equally delicious.
Hillstone Phoenix French Dip: A Sandwich You’ll Crave
These days, however, I’m all about their French Dip. It’s a massive sandwich stacked with thinly sliced, incredibly tender prime rib, served on a soft French roll with a side of rich au jus and creamy horseradish. The prime rib is so flavorful, and the horseradish adds just the right amount of heat to balance it all out. This sandwich is filling, but I always opt for a healthier side to go with it – the Kale and Cashew Salad with miso sauce is the perfect complement. The miso is light and not overpowering, which gives a nice contrast to the richness of the French Dip.

Hillstone also knows how to craft a great cocktail. On our recent date night, we kicked things off with a delicious Manhattan and a smoky Mezcal Negroni. For wine, we decided on the Stags’ Leap Petite Syrah, which was the perfect pairing with our French Dips. It’s always a treat to have a wine that complements the meal without overshadowing the flavors.
